How to use a stuffed toy to increase conversion

Travel is something that most people dream of. A travel company is the gatekeeper of those dreams and content is what makes dreams come true.

Having a strong online presence is great, using the right imagery through videos, photographs and descriptive text that gains thousands of visitors every month is also great.

But only if those thousands of visitors are also paying you for the services you’re offering.  Often this just isn’t the case. So how do you convert online visitors into real time paying clients?

Here are some tips:

What do people really want?

If you know what they want it shouldn’t be difficult to convert. You shouldn’t be selling something that you think your customers want, you should be offering them an experience that you know they want. If you can’t answer this question in detail, then you need to start listening to feedback and if necessary do a survey to find out. Try SurveyMonkey and offer an incentive to get people to fill it out, like a discount on their next visit or entry into a competition.

A rose by any other name…

Let’s face it, there are only so many words for accommodation or sightseeing tours, but if you can be creative with what you name these experiences, then people will be much more likely to remember you if what you offer seems unique, even if just by name.

There’s this great little place…

The chances are that anyone thinking of visiting your area would have already done some research and would have heard about the town’s main attractions. What can you offer that no one else is? Is there somewhere that the locals go to get the best toasted sandwich in town or a small bar that showcases live local bands? Offering authentic experiences in addition to well-known tourist attractions is a win for conversion.

This could be you…

People think in pictures and act based on visual stimulation. Be as creative as you can to entice people with this medium. The same old photos of the biggest tourist attraction has probably been seen a thousand times. Try something new. Create a Youtube channel with videos of you interviewing guests about their favourite part of the city. Upload “teaser” videos of what people can expect. Film your kitchen staff hard at work preparing for the evening meal. Invite up and coming local celebrities to take tours of tourist attractions and video themselves. Ask your visitors to take photos of a “mascot” – like a stuffed toy, wherever they go.

Whatever you do, the key to conversion is to be unique and make people laugh and share – don’t just offer them the opportunity to be part of an experience, but also an opportunity to be a part of your brand.
