Online Content Check-list

When it comes to making sure that you have all the online content you need to make an impact with your target audience, it can become a little overwhelming trying to figure out what needs content and what doesn’t.

Below is a check-list which outlines what online content you should have and what type of content should be present on each.

Website:

  • Home page:  This explains what you do and who it targets.  It should be to the point and really just get to the gist of exactly what kind of problem you are solving with your product or service.
  • About us page: This page is dedicated to who YOU are, there isn’t much sales copy on this page because potential clients want to know who they will be dealing with.  This is the page you put your mission and vision if you have one and any staff members which the client may come into contact with.
  • Services page:  This is the page where you describe your products/services, it can be one page or it can be many pages, depending on what you are selling.
  • Contact page:  The contact page should have all your contact details (including your social platform URL’s) clearly listed.  Just having a contact form can put some people off who just want to pick up the phone and call, so keep this in mind.

Blog:

Technically this is part of your website, but having a blog has many benefits besides SEO.  You will want at the very least one blog post a week, although there are some company blogs which update more often, once a week is the recommended minimum.

Newsletter:

A company newsletter which you sent out to your database once a month does a lot to keep your target audience informed about specials or new product information.  Newsletters are quite intimate because they go straight to someone’s inbox so you need to make sure that it isn’t just some generic sales pitch.

Social Platforms:

You will need content for your social platforms too if you don’t have the time to create this.  The content on these sites needs to be informative and interesting to your target audience, it should also encourage interaction.

Articles/Press Releases:

Articles and Press Releases are generally used to help with creating backlinks to your site, and to increase your digital footprint.  How many articles depends on what kind of impact you want to make.  Google is becoming increasingly strict with content, so you will need to make sure that this content is well written and relevant to your target audience.

This is a basic list of areas where you will need content – if you aren’t sure about what you have at the moment or how you should approach making sure that you have the right content in the right places, then get in touch 🙂
