Should I Launch an Incomplete Website?

The process of designing and launching a website can be long and sometimes quite challenging. Especially if your site requires a number of photo uploads and e-commerce functionality, you may be considering launching it without some features and adding them over time.

Then again, you wouldn’t want your site to look unprofessional. This brings you to a crossroads: either you launch the site as-is or face delays that could affect your website’s authority. What is the best strategy?

Authority Takes Time
If you have your basic website ready to launch and have some basic content generation done, it may be a good idea to move forward with the process of indexing your site.

Of course the site may not have the full functionality you would like it to, but being present in cyberspace means that your website will start to gain age and authority, and when you are ready to expand its content and functionality the new features will simply add to the website’s ranking.

The fact is that Google takes time to assign authority to a new website, so the longer your site is up and running the better your chances of sailing to the top of a google search. From this perspective, the best thing to do is make a start.

How Much Content is Enough?
You may be concerned that your website just doesn’t have enough content to be launched. While the value of content can’t be underestimated, it’s sometimes a question of quality over quantity. If your basic site is set up, with pages that describe your business and offer easy to read information on what you can offer the public as well as contact details, you may be ready to launch.

Once your site has gained some age, the extra content you add will help to secure your place in the list of results and you’ll be glad you didn’t delay the process when you had the chance.
